The Bible Students movement, as a whole, did not become Jehovah’s Witnesses; by 1930, as a whole (represented by the majority), the earlier Bible Students movement had rejected Rutherford’s new organization as well as Rutherford’s new gospel. The Bible Student movement still exists today apart from the Jehovah’s Witnesses organization. Thus, it is misleading to say that the Bible Students movement is today known as Jehovah’s Witnesses. They are not known as “Jehovah’s Witnesses”; they are known as “Bible Students.”
Posted regarding Russell as the founder of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, etc.: Quote
The Jehovah’s Witnesses organization was not created in 1881. That organization did not come into existence until after Russell died. Russell did not believe in such an authoritarian organization, nor did Russell believe in the message that is preached by that organization. Russell actively preached against the need of any “organization” such as the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Russell at no time stated that one had to belong any “organization” in order to enter into paradise. Indeed, the message preached by the Jehovah’s Witnesses is almost the opposite of the “good news of great joy for all the people” that Russell preached. Russell was not the founder of that which he did not believe, and that against which he actively preached. The false doctrine of a visible organization to which all must come for salvation did not come from Russell, but from Joseph Rutherford; the doctrine that millions of people of the world, including their children, will be eternally destroyed without ever having received any benefit from the ransom for all did not come from Russell, but from Rutherford.
